Why not? I see no harm in doing this.

Because drag is designed for a very specific crowd in the entertainment marketplace for a very specific age range of viewers, it isn't really something the whole family can get into and appreciate fully. It's a different story if you approach it from a comedic angle - have a character dress up for a disguise - but going in depth about why a character likes to dress up and painting the situation deeper than that is not going to sit well with a lot of viewers.
