Reading Watchmen reminded me of this old concept of mine. I’ll probably never write it up, so here goes: Sounds like a great way for someone to fake their death and move away from the public eye after being in it for so long. A third solution! I hadn’t actually thought of that, but, yeah, that’s a good one. Unless this Supes is darker than usual and has a double killed in his place? Wowzer.

Guess you could put a lot of emphasis on just how done with being famous he is.

Youth and Age
I see watch them run and play to and fro in the sunny park, But I can’t join them as time has left its wrinkly mark, Alas I have skin about as smooth as tree bark, A great creaking back bent in a forward arc, Making impossible my embark.
But I smile nonetheless to watch them frolic while they are still innocent of the world, Knowledge of its horrors still remaining furled.

Well, I'm officially in a crummy mood now. I just finished an argument wherein I was shoptalking a short story about The Monkey King which would take place sometime after "The Journey to the West", because I thought it'd be fun to see how the journey changed him afterwards. Then some moron jumped in and said that what I was doing was "cultural appropriation" because I'm a white man talking about writing an non-canonical story about a Chinese myth. He basically made it clear that anybody taking a myth that's from outside of their culture and writing about it is a mortal sin. Well, I'm American, so I guess that means I'm constricted to writing fanfics about Washington Irving's tales or Native American folklore. When I jokingly suggested switching gears to writing a one-shot about a Skin-Walker, that set him off even more, because I'm white, not Native American.
"Your heritage lies in Europe!" "But I was raised in American," I said. "If I write about King Arthur, that's cultural appropriation". "Its okay to appropriate white people myths."
That's when I turned the conversation around on him and called him out on being a huge racist. God, people are so sensitive these days.

In any way, apart from vassaggo ? If you are and you'd like to share your works, be they the written word, songs, poems, other kinds of videos, or art projects, I can make a new category for that. This is one portrait I did ages ago of Melissa Benoist from Supergirl.
