So back in May it was announced that a Percy Jackson series is in the works for Disney+ and the author himself is working on the show. Recently at a book tour he revealed that it's planned as a five season series with each season based on each individual book.

Just a bit curious as to how the books are, I saw the movies but they didn't leave me with much impression but I certainly know that they do not best represent the source material.

I never read the books but I like the movies. That's^ exactly how I felt...though I've never read the books - which is probably why I didn't mind the movies. I also liked the first film more than the second (despite them getting Annabeth's hair the 'right colour' in the second film, apparently).

Kind of wishes that they made a film series instead since individual books aren't THAT long.

Only saw the first film but I remember enjoying it. But this sounds like something that could flesh things out better.

Hoping it’s good… I devoured these books when I was a mythology-loving kid ( devoured seems like an appropriately Cronian word choice, funnily enough). I don’t even remember the first movie, except for thinking that it wasn’t good. Didn’t see the second. BTW: They made a musical out of the first book, because they make a musical out of everything these days. I once mocked one particularly bad lyric:It’s a bit dispiriting that the material is real-life Greek gods and that’s all the lyricist could come up with. But all the songs, though they sound more poppy than musical-theater-y, aren’t all terrible. This is kinda an earworm: And the following is a pretty darn decent Sondheim pastiche… OK, the verses are more blatant imitation—of “ Opening Doors”—than pastiche. Still the best song in the show:
