I tapped out after the 3rd one and the 3rd one I didn’t like Well, this topic is about discussing franchises that took these weird left turns in general. Not just Friday the 13th. The Fast and the Furious is another good example we could discuss. What started as drag-racing movies is now a bastard hybrid of old James Bond movies and the MCU, and will almost certainly be going to space in an upcoming entry.

Again, they should totally merge this with Jurassic Park franchise.

I hate the series and regret mentioning it but The Fast & The Furious has become the king of this. Street racing to super spy team.
Friday The 13th is a great pick though

Fast 9 might as well be to its franchise what Moonraker was to 007 - I do not meant that as fairly negative, but not as a positive, either. They both became slaves to what was trendy and made some errors. Also, no need to use the laughing emoticon that often, I think the screenshot you provided sells the idea better.

Street racing wasn’t my thing to begin with and when it switched to special oops I just sort of rolled my eyes. Plus I don’t like Vin.

To be fair, I think street racing is not a lot of people's thing. They're just fun films. Although Im way behind myself lol. Dont even know where Im up to-maybe 4 or 5? Partially into a film? Might have even skipped one or two lol. All I know for certain is that Ive seen the first three

Friday the 13th is a great example of this. Hell in part 7 he fights basically a clone of Carrie, goes to new York in part 8, blew up and started possessing people in JGTH, goes into space and fights a Android before becoming a power Rangers looking villain in Jason X (which in all honesty is my favorite Friday the 13th movie) and finally gets to face off against Freddy Kruger.
Fast and Furious is another good example and just like with Friday the 13th, they also go into space by strapping a fucking rocket onto a car.
Like seriously I don't know how they're going to top that in Fast 10.
