Not a fan? How come? Not even of Fast Five, which is often considered the best of the series and solid even by non-fans? I’ve never seen any of them lol. Street racing wasn’t my thing to begin with and when it switched to special oops I just sort of rolled my eyes. Plus I don’t like Vin. Fair to say that Groot is the one role you like Diesel as?

It could be anybody.

The Rambo franchise is another one. The first film was an introspective piece on how the US abandons its veterans to make their own way through a post war life and is a rejection of mindless violence. Cue each sequel backsliding further and further into the mindless schlock the original rejected.

Cue each sequel backsliding further and further into the mindless schlock the original rejected. It is worth pointing out to readers here that the original version of First Blood was much longer and was essentially Stallone's attempt at trying to recreate the same kind of style of film as The Deer Hunter was, with very little action, and many, many slow scenes. Later on in production, they reworked the movie into a more action-heavy film with a quicker pace, and a new icon of the genre was born and Stallone found another franchise.

Yes, but there are still certain (and I don't like using this term) problematic aspects to how Rambo became what it was. Even as early as Rambo 2, you have the story of sending a man who clearly needs to go to therapy already back into war. There's just something inherently troubling about that.

While we're on the subject of horror series, what about the Halloween movies?
By the time we got to Halloween 6 it went from a lone serial killer killing random people to...him being the avatar of a Celtic Spirit with a secret Cult backing him because his murders somehow were maintaining world stability?

Friday the 13th is a great example of this. Hell in part 7 he fights basically a clone of Carrie, goes to new York in part 8, blew up and started possessing people in JGTH, goes into space and fights a Android before becoming a power Rangers looking villain in Jason X (which in all honesty is my favorite Friday the 13th movie) and finally gets to face off against Freddy Kruger. Fast and Furious is another good example and just like with Friday the 13th, they also go into space by strapping a fucking rocket onto a car. Like seriously I don't know how they're going to top that in Fast 10. And even the spinoff movie Hobbs & Shaw ventured into sci-fi territory with Idris Elba's character being a cybernetically enhanced techno-terrorist with a sentient motorcycle.

They also kind of did a supernatural element with Ends with Michael "imprinting" himself onto Corey.

To be fair to this one, Michael's supernatural nature was hinted at in the original when not even bullets killed him, but yeah, it was better to keep it mostly a mystery.
